In the 108th edition of the Border War, Wyoming won back the Bronze Boot in a 38-17 road victory in Fort Collins against the Colorado State Rams. One of the stars of the night was was Junior running back Brian Hill out of  Belleville, Illinois. With his 19 carry, 166 yard and one touchdown effort Hill became the all-time leading rusher at the University of Wyoming. Hill now has 3,056 yards surpassing the career rushing totals for Ryan Christopherson (1991-1994) at 2,906 yards and Devin Moore (2005-2008) at 2,963 yards. Moore was part of the famed ‘thunder and lighting’ running back duo with Wynell Seldon (UW’s fourth all time leading rusher with 2,672 yards).

Wyoming’s All-Time Leading Rushers

  • 1. Brian Hill (2014-Present) 3,056 yards
  • 2. Devin Moore (2005-08) 2,963 yards
  • 3. Ryan Christopherson (1991-94) 2,906 yards
  • 4. Wynel Seldon (2005-08) 2,672 yards

Hill’s numbers are truly impressive and the scary thing is he still has seven games this season and all of his senior season (if he chooses to come back) to add to his rushing total. Through 29 games Hill has 542 carries for 3,056 yards averaging 5.6 yards per carry and 105 yards per game with 20 career rushing touchdowns.

Wyoming was known as “Receiver U” in the 1990’s but it is amazing to think that I have seen the top five leading rushers in Cowboy football history. This is when you factor in Marquis Brigham’s (1995-1998) 2,605 yards since I moved to Wyoming in the early 1990’s. Perhaps with Craig Bohl at the helm Wyoming will be known as “Running Back U”?
