The Wyoming Cowboys closed out their 2015 football season with a 35-28 victory over UNLV. The senior day win saw eight Wyoming seniors: WR Justin Berger, OL Troy Boyland, QB Cameron Coffman, DE Siaosi Hala’api’api, OL Rafe Kiely, DE Eddie Yarbrough, CB Tyran Finley and possibly RB Shaun Wick (awaiting news on a medical redshirt) go out on a winning note.

The game was back and forth in the second half after Wyoming built a half time lead of 14-7 and a third quarter lead of 21-7 at the 6:37 mark. UNLV tied the game up with two passing touchdowns by Blake Decker one late in the third quarter and one early in the fourth quarter. Wyoming then answered with a touchdown on an 8 yard reverse by WR Justin Berger and UNLV responded with a 10 yard run by backup QB Kurt Palandech to tie the game at 28 apiece. The Pokes were able to bounce back though, using a play action pass to hit tight end Jacob Hollister on a 64 yard strike with 2:20 left in the fourth quarter that proved to be the game winning score.

The highlight of the day was the strong performance by RB Brain Hill who with 35 carries and 235 rushing yards broke the single season Wyoming rushing record. His 1,631 yards for the season are 186 yards more than previous record holder Ryan Christopherson’s output of 1,445 yards during the 1994 season. The junior running back to be out of Illinois now only trails Christopherson by 479 yards for the career Wyoming rushing record.

Wyoming ends the season with a 2-10 record and Coach Craig Bohl ends his second year as the Wyoming head coach with a record of 6-18. Wyoming will kick off the 2016 season at home against Northern Illinois on September 3rd. between now and then the football staff could have some turnover as Bohl looks to improve the Pokes win total in the 2016 season.
