Wyoming basketball and wrestling inked new recruits today.

Today was national signing day for Cowboy and Cowgirl basketball as well as Cowboy wrestling. The signing period is when high school student athletes ink the papers to attend college the following year. Today Cowboy basketball signed one, Cowgirl basketball signed two, and Cowboy wrestling signed two.

Cowboy basketball signed  their only recruit today, Austin Mueller from ThunderRidge High School in Highlands Ranch, CO. Mueller is a 6’6″ 210 pound small forward. Coach Larry Shyatt today said, “I don’t like him, I love him, based on the whole picture.” Shyatt also went on to note that “the best part of his game is his passion and work ethic.” Mueller was named to the 2015 All-Continental team. His team played for the Colorado state championship but was beaten by Overland. He played in that championship game against current Cowboy basketball player Austin Conway.

Cowgirl basketball signed two new players today, Taylor Rusk from ThunderRidge High School in Highlands Ranch, CO and Selale Kepenc from Bostanci Doga College in Istanbul, Turkey. Of note, Rusk plays for the same high school as Cowboy basketball commit Austin Mueller. Taylor Rusk is a 5’11” forward who is a three-time letter winner. Rusk was named the Continental League player of the year in 2014-15, as well as being named to the Denver Post’s All-Colorado team. Selale Kepenc is a 6’2″ forward from Turkey. She has been a member of the Turkish national team, as well as helping her team to three first place finishes in Turkish Championships. She has been a three-time MVP of her league and named “Best Forward of the League” four times. She brings tremendous high-level of experience to the Cowgirl basketball team.

Cowboy wrestling signed two new faces today, Jaron Jensen from Herriman High School in Herriman, Utah and Trent Olson from Gillette. Olsen left Wyoming after his freshman and has been at Wyoming Seminary in Pennsylvania. He will return to wrestle for Cowboy wrestling, presumably in the 125 or 133 pound weight class. Trent Olson has won two individual titles with his team and he also helped him team win the national prep championship during his time there. Olson has also finished in second place twice in the national tournament. Jaron Jensen of Utah will wrestle in the 141-149 weight ranges for the Pokes, presumably. Jensen has been an All-American in Freestyle and Greco-Roman, and a two-time All-American in Folkstyle. Jensen was the number one wrestler in Utah at the 138 pound weight class.
