Just got home this morning from my trip to Laramie and the Wyoming game yesterday. I find myself pretty frustrated with the state of the Wyoming football program……not with the effort or skill of the players, or what they did on the field but with what I heard from the coach after the game. While the coaching staff made some questionable calls during the game (going for 2 after the first touchdown causing the ultimate 1 point loss, throwing on 2nd, 3rd, and 4th and 5 after running the ball down their throats gouging the defense every play up until that point.)…..but it’s easy to second guess from the stands, and I know those guys know a hell of a lot more than we do, so I’m willing to accept that they know best. My frustration comes from this. Coach Christianson flipping out and going after the Air Force coach after the game because he felt like the Air Force qb faked an injury to use as a timeout which resulted in them in effect getting an extra timeout where they were able to call the bootleg play which resulted in the winning touchdown. Not only did he go after the coach after the game, he questioned his integrity, called him a cheater, and talked about they great things they teach the Wyoming players while questioning the integrity being taught to the Air Force players. I’m tired of the long trip to Laramie, and then listening to this BS, and the excuses. Last week it was the officials, now the other coach is a cheater. I’ve been a Wyoming fan my entire life, but I was so pissed listening to this guy make excuses last night and then to watch the video of him going after the Air Force coach after the game. Now I was impressed with the Wyoming players and how hard they played yesterday. They played their guts out right up to the end. With that said, Air Force in my view has always been one of the classiest programs in the country, right along with Navy and Air Force. These disciplined young men at the service academies are often smaller, and slower than their opponents because quite frankly most of the players that go to other division 1 schools can’t qualify academically for the academies so the recruiting pools for them are much smaller. Not to mention the fact that most 18 year olds aren’t willing to subject themselves to the scrutiny, training, or rigourous daily routines and demands that are placed on these men and women to make them the quality human beings they are. I have trouble with Wyoming’s coach quesitioning Air Force when we all see the antics of other Division 1 football players incuding Wyomings (trash talk, calling attention to yourself after you make a good play, etc.) that we don’t typically see from players at the service academies. I don’t know if Air Forces coach and qb did what Christianson accused them of or not. The thought didn’t even cross my mind during the game and I was there….but if he did, didn’t the Wyoming staff have just as much time with their players. Quit your damn whining and excuse making, and coach these good kids that we drive clear across the state to watch because we love the Pokes. This is 2 weeks in a row, but I for one won’t continue to make the drive to support that coach if he continues that crap. I have always respected Air Force. Even the normally hard core Wyoming fans ( of which I proudly consider myself to be) aren’t as brutal to Air Force because of the respect they have for them. Sorry, but I just had to get that off my chest.

Going for 2 pts didn’t cause the Wyoming loss. If you were at the game, you probably seen Wyoming convert it on the second touchdown. AF scored a touchdown to UW’s 2 field goals, resulting in the 1 pt loss.

I felt the injury was fake, but it is part of the game. Agree our coach got caught up in the heat of the moment and made a mistake. Hope he regrets it.
