Here are the results of the 2012 preseason Mountain West media poll.
The Pokes are slotted in at fourth and the rest of the poll looks as one would expect with Boise State on top and UNLV/New Mexico bringing up the rear. The only complaint I have is Fresno State in third (with two first place votes!). The Bulldogs gave up 35 points a game last year (in the WAC) and unless QB Derek Carr is now playing defense at a high level, they probably are not going to be much improved over those numbers as new members of the Mountain West.
I will be doing full analysis over the coming weeks and will release my official Mountain West predictions a week or two before the season kicks off. No need to rush to judgement on some of these teams with so many new conference members and coaches in the fold. I will take a look at each school’s fall camp and then make a prognostication based on any developments (injuries and the such). I know you all will be waiting on pins and needels until the predictions arrive!
