Looks like they're hiring from within, story from ESPN:

Hawaii is expected to announce Greg McMackin as the successor to June Jones at a news conference on Wednesday, two sources familiar with the situation said Monday.

An official announcement will not come until Wednesday, at the earliest. Barring anything "highly unusual" occurring between today and Wednesday, as one source stated, McMackin will be named coach.

McMackin is Hawaii's defensive coordinator and was endorsed on Sunday by Jones for the position.

McMackin could have joined Jones as SMU's defensive coordinator.

New York Giants offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride is among the coaches a committee considered but his team is still playing and with national signing day approaching, time is of the essence.

McMackin has coached at Hawaii, Texas Tech, Miami, Navy, Utah, Oregon Tech, Stanford, San Jose State and Idaho.

He has also coached in the NFL with the San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks.

Well the defense will be elite next year no doubt. Sounds like Ron Lee will be the OC, meaning we will run the R&S Boise State style :o

On our staff as a WRs coach, JJ brought him in years ago because he knows the R&S well to, just Ron isn't as boring as JJ is with this offense, you are going to see reverses, 3 WRs and 2 RBs in the Shotgun, statue of liberty. And my favorite.........MORE RUNNING PLAYS!!!

Hawaii had a boring offense?? Hate to think what you call exciting. :thumb:

The run and shoot has worked well for Hawaii, that's kind of their trademark.. would be a shame if they lost that identity. Any chance of Mouse coming back?

Mouse has promised PSU he will remain there for the rest of his football career......Now Jerry on the other hand.....might be smelling greener pastures at SMU...And for your sake you better hope so, cause PSU has an unreal recruiting class coming in for an FCS school, somebody may want to check up on JG and see if all these recruits were picked up within the rules ;)

JJ threw the ball to much, nobody really knows this, but UH has one of the best RBs in the country in Leon Wright-Jackson

Problem? We put everything on Colt's shoulders. That won't be the case with Ron Lee, expect 35 passes a game and 25 attempts a game. Which will let Leon roam free. Also we bring in 4-Star WR Attrail Snipes and 4-Star WR Daniel Lofton. We don't rebuild, we reload.

Glanville may have gotten nice recruits, but we still get the best in the Big Sky Conf. His team had no problem lighting up the scoreboard last year, however, they couldn't play defense to save their lives. Montana tried recruiting Snipes, but he took the nice warm breeze compared to the howling winds of Hellgate Canyon.

Hawaii may do some good with a more balanced attack.. god knows it'd be a different flavor of offense.

Snipes wasn't much out of High School, not he's all that and more....go figure.

The Big Sky looks confusing next year, UM has some holes but so does everybody else, and whats with the crap about WSU contending next year

My Warriors will b strong again next year, if you look at our schedule the worst case scenario is 8-5, the best being 12-1. Theres no way we beat Florida, but everyone else we can beat.
