Bowl Pecking Order

Las Vegas get the champ. I'm picking Boise. That leaves in order of record Fresno, San Diego and Wyoming.
Now the top three bowls, as I understand it to chose next are 1) New Mexico, 2) Spud, 3 ) Hawaii, with Arizona and Cactus bowl and maybe Frisco Bowl following. I hope I am wrong. That means Fresno to New Mexico, SDSU to the Spud, and the Pokes to Hawaii. I prefer the Arizona or Cactus. Please correct if this is a misperception.

According to a Wyoming podcast I listened to one of the guys said they usually send the team that fans don't travel well to the Hawaii bowl and so it is likely CSU is going to the Hawaii bowl. So that would leave Wyoming to go to the Cactus or Frisco bowl.

Not sure if that is actually true or not but would be fine with me if so.

No it is not quite like that. See details here: http://www.themw.com/sports/2017/6/9/bowls.aspx

Las Vegas is first. Cactus (if available) picks after Las Vegas. Then 3rd is New Mexico, Idaho, and Hawaii bowls all together, which get teams by negotiating with the conference office. Then 4th is Arizona bowl. Then Frisco, then Foster Farms

Yes, but they don't select teams solely on record. Traveling fan base is a weighted factor.

Neither SDSU or Fresno are known for traveling much past their state's lines. Maybe Vegas and Reno, but beyond those?

Pokes could end up in Arizona, with a sizeable crowd there. So long as its West of the Mississippi, our fans travel pretty well. Especially warm weather areas.

Cactus bowl in arizona is about a 5 hour drive from San Diego.

My bet is Las Vegas is Boise, cactus takes a 10-2 San Diego.

I bet Fresno, wyo, and csu get split in some way between Hawaii, Idaho and new Mexico bowls

I don't believe the Cactus Bowl will be available.

Primary conferences are Big 12/Pac 12. Cactus is 5th in pecking order for Big 12 and 6th in Pac 12. There are 7 Big 12 teams bowl eligible (with an 8th possible) and 6 Pac 12 teams bowl eligible (with up to five more possible).

What’s interesting is that unlv is one win away from 6 wins and if they get there....

I checked the Cactus a week or two ago.... Then, I didn't see much chance of it being available for MWC.

Anywhere but New Mexico for a third time please god. Wouldn't be thrilled about Hawaii or Idaho either, but it's a change at least.

Idaho sucks and is at the bottom of my bowl preferences only because I hate the smurf turf during warm weather and hate it more in the cold

I'd like the Hawaii bowl myself. If it is warm - i'll be there.

Just checked the conference tie in status for the Cactus Bowl. Big 12 has seven 6+ win teams with one likely to go the playoffs. Pac 12 is likely to have one or two 6 win teams sitting home.

There won't be 6 win teams sitting home. There were 2 or 3 5 win teams in bowls last year

I really love debating which bowl is best as opposed to, well, you know.
Kudos to coach Bohl and team.

Yeah "Pac 12 is likely to have one or two 6 win teams sitting home" is pretty ambiguous
