Bailey was definitly a great player, no doubts there, but that doesn't mean he's HC material. Plus, according to that article, he's currently a student at UW (medical, I think). Can a student also be a HC?

As assistants to somebody that has coached at a high level before...quite possibly.

Add those 4 to Dooley, Theus, etc., and I agree...magical.

On their own...hate to say it...f-word.

Baileys response on the page was pretty interesting to say the least. At this point we just need a change, It needs to happen now and not at the end of the season. Granted it's not likely to happen before the season is over but HS has proven he can't turn this program around IMO he should have been gone already.

Nothing but a bunch of living in the past. Former players that have been mentioned here were absolutely solid UW hoops contributors (AS PLAYERS). It isn't like they are going to be able to put the uniform back on and bring back greatness and victories.

We need a coach. A coach that has experience...coaching...at a significant level.

Couldn't agree more. This whole discussion is a nightmare. Bailey has no experience and seemingly no interest in being a coach. There might be some interest by fans and alumni, but the current class of students have no idea who he is. If the current adm. has any interest or hope in rebuilding this program, they are going to have to ante up, and I don't mean the kind of contract HS is getting, I mean at least 3 times that and preferably even more.

I think Bailey would be a fine hire, just not as the head coach. Hire a coach that is a proven winner at the D1 level and ask Bailey or Davis to be an assistant.

Peach, you are right on the money!!! I think it would be a great idea to bring one or both in as an assistant but head coach? No way! Loved em as wyo ballplayers but we need a true and tested coach that knows the ins and outs of recruiting, x's and o's, etc... Get real people.

As an example, Moe Radovich was a great player for Wyoming, but not a good head coach.
You can tell how big a person is by what it takes to discourage him/her.

Don't get me wrong, I like Bailey, but maybe he could get some years under an experienced coach first before going at it as an HC? Like make him an AC to whoever becomes the new HC.
