2023 Recruiting: Late Signing Period

If Linder can pull out a decent season after this, then he's a wizard. Bohl pulled a rabbit out this last year when a lot figured us for 3-4 wins. Here's to Linder doing the same.

I'm excited about Nigel Cook. It's been a minute since we had a player that played above the rim.

Nigle Cook appears to have only recently caught the eyes of college recruiters. He chose Wyoming over Villanova.

Tape reminds me of Josh Adams athletic abilities.

Looks to be really good news.

Look into the Florida Prep School Cook is coming from. Looks like an athletic factory with top tier facilities and coaching.

I can’t get real excited about signing an NAIA player. Don’t care how good he was at that level. It’s half a step above half acre ball.

L take from someone who clearly hasn't watched NAIA basketball before

You got me there. I don’t spend time watching NAIA basketball. I know there are over 350 division I programs, a ton of DII programs, a ton of JUCO programs and then waaaaay below that is NAIA. But a hearty welcome to the board to whichever of Mason’s relatives you are!

Seems like an ignorant take after you just said you don’t watch any NAIA basketball. Bunch of NAIA schools beat D1s ever year plus all of the kids that make the jump up to D1 programs. Thanks for the welcome though hopefully I can help educate you a little bit while we try make a conference championship run this season.

The high end of NAIA is just as good as division 2 and the Jimmys went pretty deep in the National tournament the last few years. Drake Jeffries came from division 2 and that worked well. I watched a bit of games on you tube and Mason can score with his back to the basket and is good jump shooter. He also played good D. The competition was solid, teams all had bigs in the 6 - 8 to 6 10 range. He might not be as dominant on the glass with the increased strength of the MWC bigs, but I bet he will fit nicely into Linder’s system.

Looking at the updated roster, I'm not horribly concerned. Will we contend for a conference title much less make a run at the tournament? Probably not. Getting Combs and Cook seem like solid building pieces with the addition of Walters and Newton to fill in the immediate stretch gap. Would love to see a couple more 6'5" / 6'6" type guards along with a real post banger. Not sure where / who can run the point, or if we need to pull a couple into the system.

Long story short, not overly disappointed with who has joined the program. Hope to keep them if they actually go off to help revive this dead horse of a program....

I’ll go support the Pokes at the AA, next season, likely go to Las Vegas and then wait and watch every day for the transfers like I did this year. Ugh.

Go Pokes.

Wyoming signs Barnhart's replacement.

Oleg Kojenets is a 7 foot transfer from Nebraska. He played sparingly over the past 2 years for Nebraska totaling 10 points and 13 rebounds in parts of 18 games. He is a native of Lithuania.
