UNM to hire Mike Leach?

A former executive producer of University of New Mexico Lobo TV sports programming and long-time news producer for KRQE-TV in Albuquerque reported yesterday on his Facebook page that UNM will fire football coach Mike Locksley and hire Mike Leach as Locksley’s replacement after the Lobos play in-state rival New Mexico State on Oct. 9.

That is funny that Licksley still has to coach even though he probably knows he toast. I have always kind of liked Leach as coach and he is from Cody...

Considering the problems with Locksley. Leach may not be the best hire for them considering his baggage as well. Hire Phil fulmer so we don't have to hear him whining on the air anymore and bring back Tee Martin!

I understand NM is still paying Rocky Long off on his contract and would have to pay Locksley off on his contract if he is terminated. I doubt NM has this kind of money to hire Leach (or Fulmer) unless they have some alumni with really deep pockets. Leach probably would be a good hire though.
