Given the downturn in the economy, Wyoming's lack of ability to compete at FBS football and the fact that the MWC is on the outside looking in on the college football playoff anyway, I really think Wyoming should look at moving to the Missouri Valley Conference. Competitive basketball against top competition and not the emphasis on football. Also avoids the big sky talk which nobody seems to really wants.
wanted everyone's thoughts on this idea.

Missouri Valley is the same level as Big Sky
FCS is FCS.
FCS is FCS.
If you ever need to laugh, just remember there was some idiot who wanted Bohl fired after 2 seasons.

Half true. I give far more than 2 poop that we win. In fact, I have little doubt that I actually care more than you. But, I would much rather lose in FBS than win in FCS (which we wouldn't anyway, so it's a moot point).SDPokeFan wrote:You came to the wrong board man. Again, you love to point out that fact but completely ignore the part about us not being able to win in FCS either if we went there, nice selective reading.SDPokeFan wrote:This statement proves my point.WestWYOPoke wrote:Half true. If we can win in the FCS we can win in FBS. If we can't win in the FBS due to limitations of the program(geopgaphy, money, etc) those issues are still going to be issues in the FCS and would prevent us from winning there too. We couldn't move down and then become a FCS powerhouse. I think we can win at this level if we get the right people in place(hope that they are but we will see)

You say it like it's fact. We have never been FCS. We don't know how we'd do. The only thing we know for a fact is we suck at FBS.WestWYOPoke wrote:Again, you love to point out that fact but completely ignore the part about us not being able to win in FCS either if we went there, nice selective reading.SDPokeFan wrote:This statement proves my point.WestWYOPoke wrote:Half true. See, the difference is that I do know how we would do at FCS. Would we win, on average, more games than in FBS? Sure. Would we be perennial contenders for a national title? Nope.SDPokeFan wrote:You say it like it's fact. We have never been FCS. We don't know how we'd do. How do I know this? Years of working in and studying college athletics and how they work internally.
If we go down this road, Big Sky is still more logical.rocketcitypoke wrote:Given the downturn in the economy, Wyoming's lack of ability to compete at FBS football and the fact that the MWC is on the outside looking in on the college football playoff anyway, I really think Wyoming should look at moving to the Missouri Valley Conference. However, I personally have more confidence in the upside for the football program than this question assumes. What I like about the football program is the same think I like about Coach Shyatt's basketball program. Both are avoiding quick fixes and gimmicks and are focused on a long-term, sustainable system.
What worries me about both of them is that they both seem to have horribly unbalanced class distribution among the players.
