I wanted to get a gift for someone who is a Wyoming fan. The gift I wanted to get would require me to put the Wyoming logo on it. Does anyone know if the Wyoming Logo is public domain and would be allowed to be used. Thanks.

Just put the logo on it.. you're not selling it.

Putting the logo on a gift is fine, but if you're going to sell anything with Steamboat on it you'll need to go through the state compliance office.

The state. UW actually pays the state for the use, if I'm not mistaken

Wyoming has a federal trademark on the Steamboat logo. There is no such thing as a 'patent' on a logo. A patent is issued for an idea/invention/process that is new, useful and non-obvious.
