Exactly. He's already 3 months (at least) behind everyone else conditioning wise and game ready wise. Might as well make it a done deal and red shirt him.
Return of the Mack.

I can't believe this is even up for debate. What is Edwards thinking? Of course it should be predictable as he could not see he needed to start JJ last year.wyoair wrote: ↑Wed Dec 27, 2017 7:34 amExactly. To be fair, the rest of the team doesn't normally look well-conditioned or game ready, so I doubt he's that far behind...wyoair wrote: ↑Wed Dec 27, 2017 7:34 amExactly. One of the main reasons Anthony Mack came to UW over bigger schools like Villanova was to play right away. I would rather let him play a shortened season than risk losing him all together.

I saw Mack on the end of the bench in sweats. However, I did not see Hunter Thompson. Is there something going on with him?

I saw Hunter sitting in the stands... Weird. Can you only have one injured Cowboy on the bench?Wyolie Coyote wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2017 8:43 am I saw Mack on the end of the bench in sweats. However, I did not see Hunter Thompson. Is there something going on with him?

Could be nothing, maybe he wanted to chill with some friends, his girlfriend, etc.Wyolie Coyote wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2017 9:01 amThat is really odd...LanderPoke wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2017 8:52 amI saw Hunter sitting in the stands... Could be that. But are you part of the team or not? I wouldn't think it would be an option to not sit with your team.McPeachy wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2017 10:16 amCould be nothing, maybe he wanted to chill with some friends, his girlfriend, etc.Wyolie Coyote wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2017 9:01 amThat is really odd...LanderPoke wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2017 8:52 amI saw Hunter sitting in the stands... I assumed it was that he had extended family in town for Christmas and coach was ok with it. I didn't notice if he went in with the team at halftime or anything.McPeachy wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2017 10:16 amCould be nothing, maybe he wanted to chill with some friends, his girlfriend, etc.Wyolie Coyote wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2017 9:01 amThat is really odd...LanderPoke wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2017 8:52 amI saw Hunter sitting in the stands... Less likely, but maybe Edwards wants him away from the sideline to keep him away from the action. It wouldn't be very good for recovery to have a few guys land on you going for a loose ball.

He has been on the bench for the other games. Last night was first time I didn't see him on the bench.cali2wyo wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2017 12:42 pmI assumed it was that he had extended family in town for Christmas and coach was ok with it. Please get healthy soon and take away all of Gorski's minutes!
We've shown flashes of being a good team this year, a consistent 3 point shooter might be the only thing we're missing from being a serious contender in March

Redshirting guys always scares me, especially when they are a far ways from home. While it might be foolish to pull his redshirt 1/2 way through the season, this team is missing a legit 3 point shooter. Nevada has 4 very good three point threats and a beast in Caroline in the middle
I think some of us are pinning too much hope on this one Freshman. Is he going to be the 3 point specialist we need? Who knows. Sure he was good in high school, and AKA was good in previous seasons and in highschool and practice as well but we know how that has translated into games so far.
I think the kid will be good but I'm apparently not as high on him as others here. He is not going to be the missing piece of the puzzle for this team IMO.

While I am very high on him, you are 100% correct in your assertion that we have no idea how his skill set will translate into actual games. He needs to redshirt this season and start fresh next fall with a full camp and full non-conference season before he gets dropped into the heat of conference play. Id rather ride Aka Gorski out this year and have Mack and Thompson at full speed next seasonTSpoke wrote: ↑Thu Jan 04, 2018 12:41 pm I think some of us are pinning too much hope on this one Freshman. The roster is built to compete this year. I say break the glass if he offers an upgrade over Aka
I think we think alot alike Lander. We have constantly lived in the “wait till next year” mentality at Wyoming for lots of years. Let’s Carpe Diem this year and not worry about next year. I think that if Mack can contribute this year, we burn his redshirt and watch our boys make a run. If I am Mack, I want to play...LanderPoke wrote: ↑Thu Jan 04, 2018 4:38 pm The roster is built to compete this year. I say break the glass if he offers an upgrade over Aka
I don't think he redshirts this year if healthy as Aka Gorski is simply not a D1 player, but the concussion has a major impact on the bolded statement. It would be one thing to just redshirt, but he's going to redshirt due to getting rocked hard enough to not even sit on the bench for a significant portion of the season.Vt poke wrote: ↑Thu Jan 04, 2018 12:06 pmRedshirting guys always scares me, especially when they are a far ways from home.
