Re: One last thought on Linder…

I really wish we knew the entire story in regard to Linder’s exit from UW. I get the feeling some animosity developed between Linder and Burman during the offseason. I don’t think Linder felt he was getting enough support at UW, either from the administration or the fans. Whether that is accurate o...

Re: One last thought on Linder…

He recruited and signed a transfer kid the day before he left. Would have loved to hear the BS he was spewing to that kid (who has now since signed with Nevada).

Re: Off-season: collective bargaining

It’s a fresh start. The 300 can form or become part of their own associations and create their own tournaments. The split will happen regardless. This is just a way to speed up that process and get back to relatively amateur athletics. Only problem is there will be no or very little revenue from tv...

Re: Off-season: collective bargaining

The 60% you are upset about is coming from reduced payments from the ncaa to the schools which is somewhere between 1 and what 30% of the revenue distributed to the school? If the ncaa is bankrupt, it would be 100% reduction in revenue distribution. I don't understand how that's better? How is bank...

Re: Off-season: collective bargaining

What does products liability tort common law have to do with the federally enacted statutory Sherman Antitrust Act? There’s only liability here because Congress passed the Sherman Act declaring monopolies and certain anti-competitive conduct to be illegal. Like I said, the only reason it surprises ...

Re: Off-season: collective bargaining

That’s about as easy as a question as it gets. The players have no claims against those parties. There are no allegations that ESPN colluded with the NCAA to craft rules that prevented the players from receiving endorsement dollars for their name, image and likeness. ESPN was merely a party that co...

I'm surprised they didn't name espn, fox, etc. Why aren't they paying? That’s about as easy as a question as it gets. The players have no claims against those parties. Re: Off-season: collective bargaining

It doesn’t take much of an expert to recognize that the differences are much larger than the 40/60 the P4 is trying to force down the throat of the little guy. Do you believe it is a coincidence that every P5 has agreed (including PAC) but not a single conference outside of them has? Maybe you thin...

Re: Off-season: collective bargaining

Can all non-p5 d1 schools say we won't pay anything and the ncaa is simply bankrupt with no further implications to non-p5 schools (since they weren't specifically named in lawsuit other than ncaa)? I have no idea. Fundamental bankruptcy law. 11 USC 547. A bankruptcy court can claw back NCAA distri...

Re: Off-season: collective bargaining

Yes - I can almost guarantee the plaintiff class members will require a structure based on conference affiliation and sport. No way would a structure that pays a water polo player the same amount as a football player will pass any scrutiny required by a court. The class member distribution model ha...

Re: Off-season: collective bargaining

Basically the only Wyoming player who might be entitled to real money in damages for lost NIL revenues is Josh Allen. No one else-Hill, Wilson, Muma etc, would get much in the way of damages. Compare that to someone like Joe Burrow, Zion Williamson, Trevor Lawrence, Baker Mayfield etc. from P4 conf...

Re: Off-season: collective bargaining

I am suggesting that P5 players are entitled to more damages yes. Even the class plaintiffs admit that very fact. And it is ultimately the Plaintiff class that needs to obtain a court approved damages distribution model. Undoubtedly former Wyoming players will get peanuts in the settlement as compa...

Re: Off-season: collective bargaining

"The proposed settlement is for $2.7 billion in damages from 2016-present but the P5 to only cover 40% of that amount" That is exactly the point. The money is to repay past damages to players who were not able to receive NIL income. Currently P4 schools are paying significantly more for N...

Re: 24-25 Roster

Henry, Agbim, Ebube and Nesbitt formally introduced today. I believe that leaves us with 3 open schollies. Kenny Foster would be a tremendous help to this roster next year. https://gowyo.com/news/2024/5/24/mens-basketball-wicks-announces-addition-of-four-cowboys-to-roster-for-2024-25.aspx?fbclid=Iw...

Re: Off-season: collective bargaining

For the lawsuit, we paid more as a percentage but waaay less total dollars than p4. Huh? I’m not following what you’re saying. The proposed settlement is for $2.7 billion in damages from 2016-present but the P5 to only cover 40% of that amount. It equates to more liability per school in the P5 but ...

Re: Off-season: collective bargaining

P4 conferences have signed onto the settlement agreement. No G5 conferences have yet. The reason - the NCAA and the P4 structured the proposed settlement agreement in a way where the G5 and FCS teams would have to shoulder an unfair amount of the antitrust damage burden accrued from 2016-present (c...

Re: Off-season: collective bargaining

This is likely the game changer. Schools can now directly pay players “above the table”. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/other/ncaa-power-5-agree-to-deal-that-will-let-schools-pay-players/ar-BB1mWOJo This is a step in the right direction in my opinion. I haven't really kept up with all these lawsu...

Re: NIL

Interesting article. Player is suing coach for failed NIL promises. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/other/former-florida-signee-jaden-rashada-sues-coach-billy-napier-and-others-over-failed-14m-nil-deal/ar-BB1mMXh6 Brilliant legal strategy. It will probably settle before discovery because the coach...
