TCU lived up to their ranking this week as they easily disposed of the Wyoming Cowboys. The biggest news of the week came on Friday mid-morning when it was discovered that sophomore quarterback Austyn Carta-Samuels would not be making the trip to Fort Worth. The story caught fire and it was finally revealed that ACS had an injury stemming from the game vs. Toledo and did not fly to Fort Worth with the team. Starting in place of ACS was senior quarterback Dax Crum. Crum hadn’t made a start since 2008. He filled admirably in place of ACS, completing 11-19 passes for 117 yards and an interception. The offense was never able to get any traction vs the 4th ranked Horned Frogs. TCU was not forced to punt until mid-way through the fourth quarter. Senior quarterback Andy Dalton completed 14 of 17 passes for 270 yards and three touchdowns. Shamiel Gary led the Cowboys with 8 tackles, 5 solo.
The Cowboys will next face Utah for its homecoming game. The Utes are ranked #11 in the country and are undefeated this season. They are fresh off of an absolute destruction of Iowa State in Ames, IA this past weekend. This will be the last year that the Utes will compete as a member of the Mountain West Conference before they move onto the PAC-10 next season. Cowboy fans are urged to come out and help the Pokes send the Utes out of the MWC in style, plus, it’s homecoming! The game will be a 4:00pm start from the War.
